A. Joyce Hopkins was welcomed into her heavenly home on January 16, 2024. She was born March 26, 1939, in Boydsville, Arkansas to Reuben and Rose Stone (nee Moore).
Joyce was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late Bill Hopkins and the cherished daughter of the late Reuben and Rose Stone. She was a loving mother to Donna (Bruce) Sheffield, Vicky (Craig) Gulley, Pam (Mark) Potash, and Kim (Mitchell) Hampton. She was a proud grandma to 12 grandchildren and a great grandma to 18 great-grandchildren. She was a caring sister to the late Bobby (Barbara Ann) Stone, Barbara Tison, Sandra (Richard) Cunningham, and a sister-in-law to Jerry and Ted Hopkins. Joyce was also a dear aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Joyce was very creative. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her daughters when they were young. She crocheted, worked puzzles, made wonderful desserts and loved decorating her home but her favorite activity was tending to her flower beds. She spent hours caring for them and took great pride in their beauty. Joyce and Bill were world travelers and saw many wonderful and amazing places together. After Bill passed away, Joyce continued to travel with her daughters and never tired of the thrill of an adventure. She was also an avid Southern Gospel music fan, attending many concerts and conventions. Bill learned, while dating Joyce, that one way to win her heart was with ice cream, a treat she loved her entire life. All of these things paled in comparison to the love she had for Bill, her daughters and the rest of her family. She was proud of each one of them and loved sharing stories about them with friends and any stranger who would listen.
Visitation will be Friday, January 26, 2024 from 9:00am until 11:00am at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. A funeral ceremony will take place at 11:00am also at Newcomer St. Peters Chapel with Chris Nations officiating with interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery immediately following.
