Alex Michael Hayes, age 26, of O'Fallon, Missouri passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021. He was born in Florissant, Missouri on April 4, 1995 to Michael and Jeanine Hayes (nee Anstead).
Alex is our child, our SON and one of our 3 shining stars that lit up our whole world and I feel he is the brightest now and will shine for all of us. Alex never knew a stranger, he NEVER ever was with out a smile and wildly crazy laugh. He was every ones BEST friend, he never judged and only wanted solid honest loving persons. When you were his person, you were his friend and family. His high school bestie, Victoria Morris and Adam Flood have the two most dynamic daughters Marley Rose and Alice Eleanor. When he spoke about these princesses, the love that shined from his eyes and smile was breathtaking. He loved those girls and there will never be a day that he will not be with them holding them in the palm of his hand (so smile Marley and Alice, Alex loves YOU). Alex had a heart that was like no other and the love he had for his brothers Vaughn and Clayton was one that everyone admired. Alex would plan for days to make sure he had the best gift for them and that it was meaningful as well as the best! He was always open to a hug, and would never leave without saying I love you. He was witty beyond his years and extremely funny. As a matter of fact, someone else could tell a joke and then Alex would repeat it and the whole room laughed! Vaughn would say, "he always takes my funny." What we wouldn't do to have him here so he could retell all of our funnies! Alex was great at everything he set his mind to do. He tried Football in high school, but his was skinny, one hard tackle and he quit and said " I was like a butterfly being tossed on the field, " so Soccer and Volleyball were his high school sports. He completed the highest rank in Boy Scouts and was honored with the rank of Eagle Scout. Alex always worked, he worked at Waterway, Planet Subs, and then started selling cars for STL auto brokers. Alex selling cars didn't surprise us because when he was really young, a sports car would pass by and he would always know the make the model, the size wheels, and type of engine. It's crazy to think back how if Alex took an interest in something, then he loved it! Alex's Uncle Kevin knew how awesome our son was, and shared an employment opportunity through Boeing. Alex applied for the schooling, was accepted and during the 8 week course of the class he would come home prouder then we ever knew imaginable. He would come home from class and say "hey mom and dad, I scored a perfect score on my project today" and the next day "hey family I got a 98% and 96%, and by the way that 96%, I will never have a score that low again" and he never did! He interviewed for Boeing, accepted the position of Sheet Metal Mechanic and started on 9/11/2020. I don't think he ever really shot a rivet in that position he was hired for because (AND HE WAS SO PROUD OF THIS) he was then assigned additional training. We are not sure of the exact number of certifications, 13-17, but he was wiring the landing gear on the F15 EX fighter planes which was so "Super Impressive." His supervisor, Austin has shared with Mike that he never knew an employee with a work ethic like our son. If there was something that needed be done, Alex was consistently the one to volunteer and do it! Alex didn't get to tell us this but he was recently awarded EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH, and was not there even 1 year. On April 14th, 2021 Boeing flew there flag at half-staff for our amazing Alex. He was so proud of his position and was so excited with his role that he knew he'd do it for a lifetime! He met the love of his life Sydney Fulkerson and when she came into his life, she made him whole. We knew he fell in love because of the softness in his eyes when he spoke about her. He became his best self with her by his side. Alex wanted Sydney to do everything he loved with him. He loved to hunt and the racks of his last deer will forever have a place but when he asked Sydney "will you hunt with me, she said No to hunting but I will go fishing because you love to do that too."
So, Alex Michael Hayes, our Ally-Oop, the one who is most like me, we are going to forever miss your Kiss, your Hug, your Laugh, and your Smile. You have so many beautiful friends who are in heaven like Sam, Jake, Mason and not to mention Mema and Papa and Grandpa and Grandma Hayes. Heaven has no idea that having you there will make heaven life "perfect." I wouldn't be me if I didn't say in closing.... We are forever thankful and blessed that GOD gave me you.
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you - do your feel loved? (when Alex was little we would count on our fingers 10 I love you's and do you feel loved and he would always say, YES!)
We are going to miss you beyond belief and I know we will be together again one day, but until that day... Watch over this family, keep your brothers close to you, they still need you, and for me and your dad, stop by anytime and let us know your near!
I love you times 10 and yes, WE feel loved.
Alex is survived by his parents, Michael and Jeanine Hayes; his brothers, Vaughn Michael Hayes and Clayton Michael Hayes; the love of his life, Sydney Fulkerson; his aunt and uncle who never gave up on him, Julie (Kevin) Anstead; and his most gift to himself, his dog, Kilo. He will be dearly missed by many uncles, aunts, cousins and so, so many friends that he always referred to his "his family"
