Alma L. "Me-Mo" Hassell, age 93, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021. She was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on November 28, 1927 to Alexander Raby and Esther McCoy.
Alma is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hassell; her 5 grandchildren, Brian (Ivy) Hassell, Sherri (Cecil) Cash, Jason Evans (Marla Posey), Teresa (Jesse) Althen, and Dawn (Craig) Moncey; her 11 great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Keith) Lorcher, Jonathan Walton, Taylor (Kegan) Williams, Alyssa Cash, Cameron Cash, Marshal Kemp, Chance Posey, Ian Althen, Keith Althen, McKenna Moncey, and Caden Moncey; and her great-great-granddaughter, Everly Giesing. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harold Hassell; her sons, Randall G. (Marilyn) Hassell and Russell H. Hassell (Leslie Lurie); her parents, Alexander Raby and Esther M. McCoy; her sisters, Violet Green and Ruth Gilliam; and her brother, Charles Raby.
Alma retired from the International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine and Furniture Workers (IUE) after 27 years of service to the the National Secretary-Treasurer. She previously worked in the Superintendent's office of the Pattonville School District, and as Personal Secretary to the President of the Bank of Overland.
Alma and Harold were avid road-trip travelers for most of their adult lives, visiting 40 of the lower 48 United States plus Canada by RV and car, the Caribbean, and of course to England where she twice visited her family's previously-owned estate, Raby Castle.
Alma was a current, long-time member of the Harvester Church of the Nazarene. Previously, she and Harold were members of the Bridgeton Church of the Nazarene, Founding Members of the Overland Church of the Nazarene, and Webster Groves Church of the Nazarene.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am until 11:30 am with a service to follow at 11:30 am, both on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, St. Peters Chapel, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
