Alvin H. Westfall

Alvin (Al) Henry Westfall, 84, of Weldon Spring, Missouri passed away on June 10, 2020.

Born in Elmira, NY to Anna and Julian Westfall. Alvin was awarded the Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts in 1953, and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1959. He married June Snyder on February 9, 1958.

His career at Perkin-Elmer's Danbury Optical Center allowed him the opportunity to work on several important satellite systems including the Hexagon Satellite, the Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS), and the Hubble Space Telescope.

Alvin became the Scout leader for Pack 55 and later the Scoutmaster of Troop 55 in Danbury, CT. His passion for camping, hiking and exploring was embraced by Troop 55 with many years of year-round camping. In addition to his involvement in Scouting, he was active in the sponsoring church Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danbury CT. He was also active in the Lion's Club in Bethel, CT and St. Peters, MO. Following retirement, he enjoyed grandchildren, wood carving, reading and traveling.

Al is survived by his wife of 62 years, June Westfall; children, David (Doris) Westfall, Robert Westfall and Timothy (Barbara) Westfall and five grandchildren, Maj. Christopher Westfall, USAF, Stephen Westfall, Robert Westfall, Dr. Andrew Westfall, and Emma Westfall.

Services will be private. Memorial donations can be sent to either the Nehemiahs C/O Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Charles, MO (115 S 6th Street, St.Charles, MO 63301) or the Alzheimer's Association, St. Louis Chapter (9370 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63132).
