Andrew John Taucher

Andrew John Taucher, age 56, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019. He was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois on August 23, 1962 to Frank and Dolores Taucher (nee: Appelhans). Andrew was a Manager at Value City Furniture for many years. He was married to Lea Taucher for almost 25 years.

Andy was an avid sports fan who loved football, hockey, and golf. He enjoyed listening to music, grilling on a nice day, and petting stingrays and imitating penguins at the zoo, but most of all loved spending time with his family. He had two children he found amazing: Bridgette (22) and Ethan (18). He was so proud they would be graduating this year from college and high school, respectively. Andy died from a battle with cancer. He was set for all out war, but God had other plans for him. He found out he had cancer on February 3, 2019, the day after he went to the hospital because his acid reflux became incredibly painful. His pain turned out to be from an esophageal tumor that was cancerous. It had already metastasized to Stage lV cancer. From the beginning, he wanted to fight, planning to be the one to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding. He entered into a promising clinical trial, but the results were not quick enough to catch up with the disease. He was in the hospital from strokes and had another one that sent him to hospice. They told his family he had a few months to live, and that they could get the house ready while he stayed at the facility. A few hours later, the hospital doctor stated he only had days to live and that he would not be going home. Within the next couple hours, the nurse said he didn't have more than 24 hours. An hour later, they realized he was transitioning and only had about an hour left. He waited a half hour for his daughter to get there and say goodbye, then passed away a half hour later.

Andy did things big and put his full energy into pursuing his paths. Unfortunately, the cancer followed in his footsteps. Andy loved life. His idea of relaxation involved drinking a beer, hanging out with family and friends, and holding his wife Lea's hand every so often all at the same time. His world revolved around his children. They inspired him and gave him so much pride and joy. He truly cherished the people in his life. He loved sharing his music, particularly the Beatles and Jimmy Buffet. He used to sing his kids to bed at night with "And I Love Her" by the Beatles. His favorite movies encompassed "Christmas with the Kranks" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." When he found something funny he would laugh harder each time he saw it and soon everyone laughed with him. He was a master of games, often winning. Game night tended to be highly competitive in the Taucher household. Andy's smile lit up a room. His enthusiasm made even the worst doubter eager to try something. When he had a mission in mind, he was unstoppable. He will always be remembered as a wonderful man, friend, husband, and father.

Andy is survived by his Loving Wife, Lea Marie Taucher, Children, Bridgette (Caleb Longley) Taucher and Ethan Taucher, Parents, Frank and Dolores Taucher, Siblings, Frank (Carol) Taucher, Jr., and Kristy (Fran) O'Shea, Nieces, Meghan (Jonathan) Powalish, and Sarah (Luke) Dever, Nephews, Timothy (Jessica) O'Shea, and Nathan Taucher. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376.

A Second Visitation will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376.

Service will immediately follow visitation at 1:00 pm.

A funeral reception will follow at the Joachim and Ann Care Service, 4116 McClay Rd, St. Charles, MO.

Interment will be private.


A Memorial Service will be held in Chicago, Illinois at a later date.
