Anna Louise Scott, age 92, of O'Fallon, Missouri, and formerly of Ferguson, Missouri passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born in Olivette, Missouri on January 11, 1930, to William and Olga Braun (nee Warmann). On September 9, 1955, she married the love of her life, Harold R. Scott, and they enjoyed 65 married years together until his passing. Ann's exemplary character shone brightly, and she lived her life modestly and in service to others.
Ann was a 1948 graduate of Normandy High School, and she then attended Hickey Secretarial School. She worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis in the early years of their marriage. She left the workforce in order to become a full-time mother and homemaker following the birth of their first child.
Throughout her life, Ann's faith played an important role. She was an active member of Chapel of the Cross — Lutheran Church in St. Louis County, where she served in several capacities. Previous to that, she volunteered extensively at Zion Lutheran Church and School in Ferguson. And before marriage, she taught Sunday School at Nelson Presbyterian Church in Normandy. For many years she was involved in collecting for the American Cancer Society, and she also worked as a poll worker. Additionally, Ann joined Harold in bowling in mixed leagues for several years.
Ann enjoyed tending to flowers in her yard, identifying birds she saw as she was out and about, and being entertained by the neighborhood squirrels putting on a free show for her on a regular basis. Additionally, she melted whenever she got to pet someone's dog and had fond memories of three dogs she had in her lifetime. As she was losing her ability to communicate last week, the mention of her daughter's dog's name got a response out of her.
Anna is survived by her son, John R. (Tere) Scott of O'Fallon, MO; daughter, Janis L. (Marty) Haas of Saint Peters, MO; brother, William K. (Betty) Braun Jr.; two grandsons, Graham Scott and David (Amanda) Haas; four granddaughters, Jaléna (Andrew) Barton, Eliana Scott, Sarah (Chris) Gooch, Rachel (Alex) Toelke; great-grandson, Jack Gooch; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Scott; father, William Braun; and mother, Olga Louise Braun.
Memorial contributions to Chapel of the Cross — Lutheran Church in St. Louis County, MO or the American Cancer Society are greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
