Anne Margaret Krussel, age 56, of O'Fallon, Missouri passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was born in Enid, Oklahoma on March 7, 1967 to Elmer and Marcia Krussel (nee Kraus).
The eldest of 8 siblings and a lover of cooking, baking, gardening and movies. Anne was an animal enthusiast, particularly a lover of her numerous cats over the years. Her artistic side was seen in creating stained glass artwork that she often gave as gifts to family members, taking on house renovation projects, as well as exploring new recipes. She was a collector of all things Star Wars.
Of all Anne's loves and passions, family was first. She was the stereotypical fun Aunt to all nieces and nephews with fun toys, games, and jokes. If she could spoil or corrupt the kids in any way….she did; particularly if it would make their parents giggle and cringe simultaneously.
She spent most of her life striving to make everyone around her happy. Her life and career was in service of others. From loving, teaching and encouraging her 7 brothers and sisters, to waiting tables at a beloved neighborhood restaurant, to making spectacular wedding cakes, and experimenting with new 'recipes'. One of her more recent joys was caretaking for adults with special needs and she did that until the very end.
She helped run Hank's Cheesecakes for 20+ years establishing friendships with employees and patrons along the way. Anne was always up for creating a new cheesecake flavor or dessert and her family benefited from her experiments. A cherished memory is Anne organizing and hosting the family holiday cookie baking exchange at Hank's Cheesecakes for many years.
Anne is survived by her parents Elmer and Marcia Krussel (Kraus); her five brothers William (Patti) Krussel, Peter (Rachael) Krussel, Thomas (Dr. Kristen McLain Milonas) Krussel, Paul (Jill) Krussel, and Michael (Sylvia McLain) Krussel; her two sisters, Margaret (Luke) Osborne and Susan Krussel; her 23 nieces and nephews, numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, and her awesome cat Lula. She will be greatly missed by all of them.
