He has amazed and surprised many of his colleagues with what he can accomplish, exceeding expectations in performance, despite challenges of health related setbacks over the years.
Although Awot loved his projects at work, the front and center of his life was God and his family! His faith in God was unwavering and continued to remain faithful as he battled cancer for 15 years. God was the center of Awot's life and made it his priority to serve and support his local church in every city he resided. He was an active member of Ammanuel Montreal Evangelical Church (AMEC) and Ethiopian Evangelical Boston Church (EECB) , where he served as an Elder with love and devotion. Awot was a man of principle and he was also a person who said what he meant and meant what he said. He treated people with honor and utmost respect and as he highly valued integrity and humanity. He loved spending as much time as possible with his family: he enjoyed involving his two girls in every project: home improvement (as they used measuring tape), graphic design projects (by allowing them to choose a logo design) He was an active dad who loved teaching, supporting his kids' learning journeys and activities. As a dad he made it his priority to instill God's word and faith in his kids life by guiding them to obey and apply biblical principles. His devotion and love for his wife can be felt by many who know him closely.
Awot is survived by his wife, Ararat Mahderekal; his children, Yohana Berhe, and Eldana Berhe; and his mother, Asgedu Gebresslasie. He will be dearly missed by his siblings, family members, friends, and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his Father, Michael Berhe Mehur.
