Barb Rough, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on December 3, 1936, Barb lived a life filled with love, creativity, and vibrant connections with family and friends.
Barb was married to Edward Rough, with whom she shared countless memories and a deep bond. Together, they nurtured a loving family that includes their son, Brett (Carol) Rough, and their daughter, Jennifer (Rick) Kaufman. As a grandmother, Barb was a guiding light in the lives of her six grandchildren: Lauren (Taylor) Burnett, Allison Rough, Bailey Rough, McKenzie (Alex) Stear, Travis Kaufman, and Ashley Kaufman. She also took great joy in her role as a great-grandmother to five beautiful children: Collins Stear, Ford Burnett, Maya Ballard, Andi Stear, and Beau Burnett. Barb is also survived by her brother: Harold (Dee Ann) Maurer.
A woman of many talents and interests, Barb found joy in making ceramics and craft painting, expressing her creative spirit through these art forms. Her love for gardening flourished as a member of The Rose Society, where she cultivated both beautiful blooms and friendship among fellow enthusiasts. Barb was also a devoted fan of Disney, embracing the whimsical charm and joy it brought her life.
Barb's passing leaves a void felt by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Maurer; her mother, Reba L Maurer; and her sister, Delore Wilburn. She is mourned not only by her immediate family but by a host of other relatives and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.
The celebration of Barb Rough's life will be held with a visitation on December 2, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri. A burial service will take place on December 3, 2024, at Enfield Cemetery in Enfield, Illinois, beginning at 11:30 AM.
Barb Rough will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her love for her family, and her unwavering passion for the things she held dear. Her legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire those she loved, reminding them of the beauty found in both the simple and profound moments of life.
