Barbara Jean Gwynn, of Florissant, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 in Fenton, Missouri. She was born in Tupelo, Mississippi to Edward and Victoria McGaughy (nee Robinson).
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Joann (Kenneth) Skeaton of Urban Crest, Ohio and Alonda (Melvin) D. Gwynn-Tate of Florissant, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Denisha M. Gwynn, Sean Howton, Chiquita Samuel, Sheena Gwynn, Madina (Louis) Castleman, Kenneth Skeaton, Jeanna Gwynn-Williams, Chanel Gwynn-Williams, Shawn Edwards, and Jamall (Karen) Edwards; sister, Gloria Hurt; sister-in-law, Brenda McGaughy; and a host of great-grandchildren, and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gwynn; father, Edward McGaughy; mother, Victoria McGaughy; two sons, Charles Edward Gwynn and Alfred (wife Patricia survives) Edwards; grandchild, Shene Edwards, Joseph Gwynn; sisters, Renee Taylor, Brenda Anderson, and Gwen Joyner; and brothers, Tony McGaughy and Terry McGaughy.
Barbara was a member and Worthy Matron 1990, and Past Illustrious Commandress 2004 and 2011 of Capital Valley #36 Order of the Eastern Star - Grace Chapter #123, Heroines of Jericho, Alla-Baba #75, Daughters of Isis, and the Golden Circle. She also loved to travel, and was an elite member of all the local casinos. Barbara belonged to 100 Seniors, and enjoyed bus trips to Tunica, MS and visiting the casinos there.
