Barbara Uttech, born on February 16, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a beacon of warmth and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Barbara dedicated a significant part of her life to her career as an Administrative Assistant at Monsanto, where she worked diligently from 1974 until her retirement in 1996. Her commitment to her job exemplified her strong work ethic and dedication, traits that were also mirrored in her personal life as she exuded love and kindness to her family and friends.
Barbara was a proud mother and grandmother, embracing her role with boundless affection. She cherished every moment spent with her daughters: Kim (Greg) Appelbaum, Kristi (Mandy Berg) Brown, Rachel (Doug) Jameson, Karen (Chris) Walker, and Andrea (Brian) Maxwell. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride: Kyle Brown, Kaden Berg, Logan Jameson, Kaleb Jameson, Chloe Jameson, Logan Walker, Braden Walker, Cash Walker, Kallie Walker, Evan Maxwell, and Brandon Maxwell. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she took great joy in offering them unique ornaments every Christmas, ensuring that her love and thoughtfulness were always present during the holidays.
Barbara's caring, charismatic, and thoughtful nature shone brightly in every interaction. She had an extraordinary ability to put others first, often worrying more about their well-being than her own. Whether it was her love for fishing, tending to her beautiful garden, or gathering with friends for lunch, Barbara filled her days with joy and laughter. She found happiness in the simple pleasures - a movie night, a game of skip-bo, enjoying the occasional strawberry daiquiris, and exchanging stories on the phone. Barbara adored her dog, Pauly, and all of her granddogs.
Barbara and Mike loved to vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks which became cherished traditions, woven into the fabric of their family culture, symbolizing her passion for creating beautiful memories with those she loved. She enjoyed spending time with her sister in St. Clair and visiting family in Wisconsin. Her delightful spirit and zest for life were evident to everyone she encountered, particularly when she won the Y98 wedding contest on Valentine's Day in 1995, a memory that brought her and her husband, Mike Uttech, so much joy.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Mike, and her cherished daughters and grandchildren, alongside her sister, Marietta (Rick) Lauridsen, who held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Minnie Woodruff, who will forever hold a piece of her memory.
The family invites those whose lives she touched to join them in a celebration of her remarkable life. Visitation will be held on October 24, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 PM. The evening will conclude with a second visitation from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM, allowing friends and family to share in their love and memories of Barbara.
Barbara Uttech will be missed beyond measure, remembered for her unwavering love and the indelible mark she left on each person she encountered. May her spirit continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends, guiding them through the journey of life, just as she did in hers.
