Barbara Zurheide

December 22, 1951 — February 18, 2025

Barbara Zurheide born on December 22, 1951, peacefully departed this life on February 18, 2025. She lived a full and enriched life, celebrated by family and friends who cherished her warmth, creativity, and devotion to those she loved.

Barbara dedicated a significant portion of her career as a court clerk for the City of Woodson Terrace, serving for ten years with integrity and diligence.

A proud graduate of Mercy High School in University City, Class of 1970, Barbara pursued her passion for art at Meramec Community College. Her artistic talents flourished throughout her life. Barbara was also known for her love of music; she enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, and sharing her love of life with others. In addition to her artistic endeavors, she found joy in bowling and had a special affection for dogs, always ensuring a few furry companions graced her home.

Barbara was married to her beloved husband, John Zurheide, for 46 years until his passing in 2019. Their marriage was a testament to love and devotion, providing a strong foundation for their family. Barbara embodied the essence of a nurturing soul, consistently bringing smiles and laughter into the lives of her loved ones. She was silly at heart and possessed a wonderful sense of humor, often lightening the mood with her playful jokes.

As a devoted grandmother, she relished the time spent with her grandchildren: Zach, Abby, Ella, Alex, Raymond, and Amelia. These cherished moments filled her life with immeasurable joy and pride, and she treasured every second spent with them.

Strong in her faith, Barbara was a member of Saint William/Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where her devotion served as an inspiration to those around her. She found great comfort and strength in her spirituality.

She is survived by her children, Amanda (Mike) Sansone, Melissa (Matt) Gonzales, and Matthew (Natalie) Zurheide; her brother, Robert Barrett; her brother-in-law, Tom Zurheide; and a host of other family members and friends who will remember her fondly. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John Zurheide; her father, Robert Barrett; her mother, Marie Barrett; and her brother, Phillip Barrett.

Barbara Zurheide’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched. Her loving spirit and artistic soul will be remembered with great affection and respect by all who had the privilege to know her.
