Bernard A. “Bernie” Corno, Jr., Age 82, a resident of O’Fallon, MO, died Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, MO after a fearless and dignified battle with cancer. He was born November 21, 1942 in St. Louis, MO and leaves behind his dear wife of 36+ years, Shirley (nee Sivia) Corno, whom he married May 26, 1988. He was the loving father of Vincent Corno (Leslie) of Lake Forest, IL, Suzanne (“Sue”) Carroll (Tim) of Manchester, MO, and Lisa McManus (Bill) of Frisco, TX and stepfather of Stacy Welsh (Doug) of Bend, OR; beloved grandfather / step-grandfather of Alex Corno, Emily Petro (Nick), A.J. Crutchfield, Courtney Harrison (Matt), Ella McManus, Molly McManus, Iris Welsh and Jordan Welsh; great-grandfather of Rosie Harrison; eldest son of the late Bernard and Alberta (nee Pacini) Corno; dear brother of Philomena Corno of Charlotte, NC and the late Jim Corno, Annina Kramer, and Marie Corno Gabriel; cherished uncle and cousin of many.
Bernie was an institution in the St. Louis television business starting as a film editor at the fledgling KPLR-TV Channel 11 in the early 1960’s after graduating De Andreis High School. Bernie was a Producer / Director of many St. Louis TV programs including Wrestling at the Chase, early St. Louis Blues games, Missouri Lottery Fun ‘N Fortune and, for over thirty years, the First Baptist Church of Ferguson’s weekly televised service. His favorite job was producing and directing content for the new St. Louis Cardinals video scoreboard at the old Busch Stadium II sitting next to Ernie Hays at the organ. Later in his career, he was a founder and principal of CCD Productions which was a pioneer in St. Louis independent production services.
Bernie was always “family first” and a gentle, accepting and nuturing soul that was loved by all. His charm and disarming sense of humor kept things in perspective with everyone he encountered. He worked tirelessly to support his family often working two or three jobs. He dearly loved his grandchildren and hosted legendary Christmas celebrations that they will always cherish. We will always remember Bernie sipping Gallo wine with Shirley in his impeccably manicured backyard, barbecuing pork steaks and listening to Frank Sinatra - his version of heaven on earth.
Private family services will be held. A celebration of Bernie’s life is being planned with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the Corno family has asked donations be made to: Evelyn’s House https://www.foundationbarnesjewish.org/Give-Hospice
