Bernard James Hieger, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on August 31, 1943, in St. Louis, he grew up in a loving home, the son of Bernard and Loretto Hieger. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents.
A graduate of Scottsdale High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1961, Jim furthered his education at Lindenwood College, where he earned an Associate degree in Management in 1986. Jim began his professional journey soon after, dedicating 31 years of service as a Metallurgy Technician at Boeing, a role through which he made significant contributions to the field.
In 1964, Jim enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1966. His commitment to service extended beyond the military, as he was an active member of the American Metallurgy Society and a faithful parishioner at All Saints Church.
Jim's passion for craftsmanship found expression in his hobbies, where he enjoyed woodworking and glass works. His creativity and attention to detail were evident in every project he undertook, reflecting his thoughtful nature and dedication to his craft.
In his personal life, Jim was cherished by his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathryn Hieger; their daughters Angela (Stephen) Williams and Heather (Zachary) Goldberg; and his six beloved grandchildren: Stephen, Faith, Shelby, Joseph, Samantha, and Alexandra. He also leaves behind his siblings: John Hieger, Margeret Crowley, Elizabeth Hieger, Mary Nolan, and Catherine Armstrong, who mourn his passing and celebrate his legacy.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation scheduled for February 7, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at Newcomer Funeral Home, St. Peters, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St. Peters, Missouri, 63376. The service will begin at 8:00 PM, extending a warm invitation to all who wish to honor Jim's life and legacy.
