Bernard Luebbert

Bernard "Ben" Luebbert, 95, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on January 4, 2018. Ben was born on July 20, 1922 in Brinktown, Missouri to the late Phillip and Catherine (Bauer) Luebbert. On April 5, 1975, Ben married Evelyn R. (Mueller) Luebbert who survives.

Ben graduated in 1940 from Dixon High School as salutatorian of his class and had the honor of delivering the commencement speech to his graduating class. After graduation Ben worked on the family farm before joining the U.S. Army in 1944 where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Ben defended his country in battles and campaigns in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received numerous decorations and citations including the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, as well as a Bronze Star Medal with 2 Overseas Bars.

In 1955 Ben joined McDonnell Douglas (later Boeing Corporation) and retired in 1982 after 27 years as an inspector. A faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church, Ben was proud to be a life member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, VFW Post 5077 O'Fallon , and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Edward, Leo, and William Luebbert; and sisters, Anna Rowden, Claire Gloriot, Fran Hydro and Gertrude Bohers.

In addition to his wife Evelyn, Ben is survived by his brother Dr. Charles Luebbert of Tipton, Missouri and several loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters. A Rosary prayer service will be recited at 7:30 pm during the visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ben on Wednesday at 10 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 5 McMenamy Road, St. Peters, Missouri. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.

Requests for Mass can be made at All Saints Catholic Church or donations may be made to the All Saints Catholic Church Annex Building Fund.
