Bernard "Bernie" Nilges, age 81, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas on October 29, 1939 to Louis and Frances Nilges.
Bernie lit up a room with his smile and laughter, his laugh was larger than life – just like him. His love for family and friends was expressed with a great meal and a drink in your hand. His passion for music and food was the song of his soul. He created many great memories for family and friends at the Lake. Bernie and Rita kept their family close and connected with family traditions. Rita is his soulmate for life and they built a strong family foundation for their children around faith and church. Christmas was his favorite holiday, his love language was giving gifts. Bernie was always there for his family and was a blessing to our life. He will continue to bless our life with his energy and love. His grandchildren and great-grandchild were one of the most important parts in his life and the granddogs held a special place in his heart. The unconditional love and support for his wife and children were the most special gifts of all.
Dad, we love you and forever have your spirit in our hearts and soul. You will always be our guardian angel watching over us from Heaven and for every tear we cry, you'll be there giving us hope, healing and the strength to carry on.
Goodbyes
are not forever,
are not the end;
it simply means
We'll miss you
until we meet again.
