Beverly Ann Collum

February 18, 1944 — July 31, 2021

Beverly Ann Collum -

Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, Beverly Ann Collum died peacefully, in her St. Charles home on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the age of 77, with her family by her side.

Born on February 18, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to George and Mildred Parisho (nee Little).

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband James, by her parents, and by her Sister Barb (Ronald) Mueller.

Beverly, a career educator, was employed in the Francis Howell School District, teaching primarily 6th grade at Hollenbeck Junior High School in St. Charles County. Upon her retirement, Beverly relocated to Fort Lauderdale where she became a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Sunrise. She was recruited to organize a St. Vincent DePaul within the parish, where she later served as the first President for that Parish Society of St. Vincent DePaul. In addition to that position, Beverly also became President of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul Central Broward Conference. Beverly became Manager of their Thrift Store and was instrumental in establishing a program to bring them out of an existing financial crisis. Her program included a no-cost clothing outreach for the homeless in the community.

She was a devoted member of Global Volunteers, an organization of dedicated educators who travel to other countries to develop schools in the local villages. She traveled to areas such as Tanzania and Ghana to teach students, organize schools and bring water and electricity to the villages.

She loved travel and was a world-traveler having visited Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, the Middle East, China, India, Canada, Rome, and many more. Beverly was a life-long learner and broadened her knowledge within her travels taking in the various cultures and the admonishing the similarities that we all share.

A philosophy she shared throughout her life is "Helping the poor isn't just handing out food, but showing love and compassion as well. If I, as a child of God take care of the poor, God will take care of me because I reflect His heart."

Beverly is survived by her children Jim (Linda) Collum and Suzie Collum. Her brother, Bill (Yvonne) Parisho, Grandchildren Melanie Winkle, Brendan Collum, Austin Winkle, and Ronan Collum and her "special" Great Grandson Justin Cooper.
