Calvin Eugene Bowers, affectionately known as Gene, left this world on November 13, 2024, in St. Peters, Missouri, at the age of 77. Born on August 28, 1947, in Washington Courthouse, Ohio, Gene was a vibrant tapestry of personality—stubborn yet fun-loving, selfless and caring, his spirit embodied the best qualities of humanity.
Gene proudly served his country for a decade in the United States Navy, a calling he embraced with honor and dedication. His years of service shaped him into the man his family and friends cherished—a pillar of strength and resilience.
Beyond his military pride, Gene found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to cuddle with his dogs, Duke and Jax, who brought him endless companionship and comfort. His passion for games on his phone was a testament to his youthful spirit, while his love for fishing provided moments of tranquility. A devoted fan of Ohio State Football, Gene could often be found cheering enthusiastically for his team, embodying the camaraderie some shared over the roar of a game.
Gene's warmth and love emanated through his close-knit family. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Lee Bowers, who was his partner in life and love. His three daughters, Robyn (Chris) Wood, Marcie Jensen, and Kelly (Jeff) Becker, adored him, each carrying pieces of his genuine nature in their hearts. The pride Gene felt for his grandchildren, Blake, Allison, Emily, and Lauren, was boundless; he relished every moment spent with them, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Bowers and Dale Clark, who stood by him through life's journey, sharing both laughter and tears.
Gene's legacy will be cherished not just by those who knew him well, but by everyone who felt the warmth of his spirit. He was a man who loved deeply and lived fully, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched. Though he is now reunited with his parents, Amos and May Bowers, and his brothers, Clyde and Everett Bowers, as well as his two beloved dogs, Buddy and Zoe, a part of him will forever remain in the hearts of his family.
As we reflect on Gene's life, we offer gratitude for the memories that bind us and the love that continues to flourish in his absence. He truly was the best of the best, and his story is one that will be remembered with affection and honor.
