Carl Peter Taylor

October 21, 1945 — January 5, 2022

Carl Peter Taylor, known as "Pete" to his friends and family, died peacefully at his home in St. Louis, Missouri, after a short illness. He left this world surrounded by the love and comfort of his wife of 54 years, Peg (Joyce) Taylor and his daughter Beth (Taylor) Mengwasser of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts and his son Brian Taylor of Ballwin, Missouri.

He was predeceased by his parents Lowell and Laura Taylor of Fitchburg, Massachusetts and is survived by his brother Neil and his wife Charlotte Taylor of Lake Suzy, Florida. He was a loving grandfather to Sydney, Nathan, Adam, and Ryan Taylor and Dana, Samantha and Peter Joseph Mengwasser. He will be missed by many including his sister-in-law Barbara (Joyce) Iammarino and her husband Richard of Westminster, MA as well as their daughter Amy and her family. He also leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews.

A twenty-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Pete attended City College of Chicago, the NCO Academy, and completed technical coursework at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Upon leaving the Air Force, he began a career at Digital Equipment Corp. and later transferred to IBM where he worked as a Program Manager until his retirement. An avid golfer, he enjoyed every aspect of the game and convinced his wife to take it up as well. He looked forward to hitting the open road and exploring new locales with his favorite traveling companions, the Iammarinos. He never missed a chance to join his fishing buddies on the Lake of the Ozarks, where he enjoyed the sport and the camaraderie of a day on the water with the boys.

Pete spent the last several winters in Sebastian, Florida, where he and Peg golfed, relaxed on the beach and entertained friends and family.

He served as a mentor to others, both in the military and in civilian life. Pete was an inspiration and role model to many, setting an example of working hard and giving back.
