Carlene McKinney

Carlene McKinney, age 87, of University City, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in Creve Coeur, Missouri. She was born in Knob Noster, Missouri on January 14, 1937, to Carl and Genevieve Byrd (nee Graves).

Carlene was an avid puzzle builder; she spent hours over the years puzzling during her free time. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. Carlene would occasionally spend time at various casinos and always came home a winner. Carlene was a very dedicated mother to her six children and many grand and great-grandchildren, she always worked hard to ensure the family had everything they needed. After making a career change to become a nurse she finished school and spent the last 30+ years dedicated to helping others in the health care industry.

 She was preceded in death by her second Husband, Raymond McKinney, first Husband Willie R. Cooper; Father, Carl Byrd; Mother, Genevieve Byrd; Son, Gary Cooper; Grandchild, Jaydon Cooper; Siblings, Carl Byrd Jr, Virgina Bird, Flossie Roach-Byrd, Geraldine Byrd, Joanne Byrd.

Carlene is survived by her Children, Darrell (Wanda) Cooper, Gregory Cooper, Tara Cooper, Brian Cooper, William (Donna) Cooper; Eleven grandchildren, Dawana (Marcus) Fugate, Darrell Cooper, Jr., Darrien Cooper, Ardell Cooper, Carlene Cooper-Johnson, Jennifer Cooper, Alexandria Cooper; Jasmine Cooper, Jocelyn Cooper, Jordon Cooper, Jeremiah Cooper,Twenty-three great-grandchildren, Cameron Fugate, Danaea Fugate, Dewan Fugate, Maiah Fugate, Annya Jones, Jayden Cooper, Kiera Cooper, Kayla Cooper, Zayne Cooper, Jouni Cooper, Demarco Watson, Caidyn Watson, Alohndrea Harris, Timothy Harris, Nevaeh Taylor, Amir Taylor, Jermany Vann, Riley Vann, J'ianna Vann, Zyasia Gunter, Kamarea Calvy, Kayveon Calvy, Zy'Ariana Calvy,; Great Great-Grandchild, Lyan Nius Gamble; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Peters Chapel. Interment to follow Funeral Ceremony at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
