Carol Jane Bear, age 90, of O'Fallon, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. She was born in Columbia, Missouri on January 3, 1934 to Herbert and Mary Dickson (nee McMasters).
Carol was a 1952 graduate of Hickman High School as Valedictorian. She then went on to attend University of Missouri Columbia "Mizzou" School of Nursing and graduated in 1956. She spent her working career as a nurse and later as an educator in nursing until retirement. She took great pride in her involvement with several nursing associations, her church, and community.
Carol is survived by her children, Stephen (Linda) Bear, Richard (Wendy) Bear, Lisa (Charles) Hill, and Leslie Ignotz; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Delong, Marissa (Jonathan) Osterkamp, Ryan Hill, Erica (Zachary) Hentrich, Charlie (Nicole) Hill, Christina Bear, Nicholas Ignotz, Zachary (Mary) Ignotz, Joshua Ignotz; ten great-grandchildren, Marlys Osterkamp, Izabelle Hill, Juniper Hentrich, Watson Hentrich, Nidia Hentrich, Opal Hentrich, Rebecca Ignotz, Arianna Bear, Micah Bear, Viktor Ignotz; two siblings, Linda (Raydell) Sapp, Don (Barbara) Shettlesworth; sister-in-law, Loisjean O'Hara; brother-in-law, Don Cunningham; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Karl Bear; father, Herbert Hedley Dickson; mother, Mary Oneeda Baker; two siblings, Patsy Cunningham and Anita McKee.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with a Funeral Ceremony immediately following at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Dardenne Presbyterian Church located at 7400 S Outer Rd 364, Dardenne Prairie, MO 63368. A Graveside Service will take place following the Funeral Ceremony at Dardenne Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
