Carol Marvyne Hoemann, 89, of Weldon Spring, Missouri, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024. She was born in Kirksville, Missouri, on June 25, 1935, to Marvin and Thelma Chapman (nee Capps).
She married James W. Hoemann on August 4, 1957. They met while both were students at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville. During her working life, besides being "mom," Carol was a home economics teacher, sold Tupperware part-time, worked as an administrative assistant for a State Farm agency, co-owned LaVogue, a women's fashion store in Kirksville, and served as a purchasing agent for BJC Healthcare in St. Louis.
Carol was a devoted member of Grace Chapel Lutheran in Bellefontaine Neighbors. Her involvement there included active participation in the quilt guild, altar guild, and seniors' group, among others. In addition to her church activities, Carol had a passion for gardening and cooking and loved being surrounded by her family and friends.
Carol is survived by her husband, James W. Hoemann; son, Paul (Amy) Hoemann; daughter, Christine Hoemann; son-in-law, Patrick Cox; five grandchildren, Elise (Jael) Chambers, Natalie Cox, Benjamin (Lizzie) Striker, Daniel (Alexandra) Striker, Anna (Fiancé, Keaton) Hoemann; three great-grandchildren, Asa Chambers, Elias Chambers, Mallory Striker; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Louise Chapman; father, Marvin Hayden Chapman; three daughters, Lisa Cox, Deborah Hoemann and Sarah Hoemann.
Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m., Thursday, August 29, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 214 W. 5th St., Washington, Missouri, with funeral service following at 2:30 p.m.
