Carolyn T. Brannigan, Fortified with the sacrament of Holy Mother Church; Succumbing Tuesday, March 31, 2020, to Alzheimer's at the age of 90. She was born in Savannah, Georgia on December 31, 1929.
Dear mother of Claire (Tom) Hasemeier, Kelly Brannigan, Greg E. Brannigan, and Anne (Bill) Heitkamp. Dear grandmother of Erin (Joe) Gregory, Kirsten Ely, Nicole (Jason) Abbott, Charles Heitkamp, and Caroline Heitkamp. Dear great-grandmother of Wyatt Gregory, and Lela Gregory.
Loving wife of the late Greogory E. Brannigan. Daughter of the late Wallace B. and Gladys Theo Tootle. Dear stepdaughter of the late Thomas C. Cheely. Dear sister of the late James Tootle, Elizabeth Puckett (Tootle), Walton Bernice Tootle, Geri McDaniel (Cheely) and Robert T. Cheely. Dear sister in law, aunt and friends to many.
Carolyn had a deep love for her family and was happiest when everyone could be together. After raising four children, she earned her M. Ed. from Washington University and worked for Special School District for many years. She loved animals – dogs, cats, birds, horses, even chickens. Many summers were spent in Savannah and at Tybee Beach. Her greatest joy came from supporting her grandchildren. No matter the weather, she could be found in the stands cheering them on. This happiness was only to be surpassed by the arrival of her great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers over the years, especially Villa Theresa and The Arbors at Bluff Creek Terrace, who loving treated Carolyn like family.
Services for Carolyn have been postponed due to the current environment surrounding the coronavirus. This information will be updated once services have been rescheduled. Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time.
