Charles Gary Scherrer, 72, St. Peters

March 28, 1952 - Sept. 16, 2024

Charles Gary Scherrer, known as "Charlie," was born March 28, 1952, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He died at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis, due to complications caused by lung cancer. He was raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended Southwest High School. He worked in management at different factories, mostly as a foreman. He was also a proud U.S.

Army veteran who served as a medic in the Vietnam War. In his adult life, he lived in Chicago, Illinois; Phoenix, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and finally, St. Peters, Missouri. He was very active with the VA in Phoenix, where he participated in the Veterans Senior Olympics in 2015, and won first place in bowling. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, bowling, coin collecting and collecting watches. Charlie was most known for his good humor and sarcasm and was dearly beloved by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Clarissa Faye Scherrer of St. Peters; one brother:

Tim Pullen of Benton Harbor, Michigan; five children: Tom (Sherri) Pitti of Alton, Illinois, Tina Larsen of St. Peters, Tiffany (Raymond) Sauer of Truxton, Charles (Chanda) Scherrer of St. Louis and Tonya (Vince) Drmacich of St. Peters; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Gerry Scherrer; and three siblings.

A celebration of life will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at the Hawk Point VFW, 106 Hwy. A, in Hawk Point, Missouri. His ashes will be buried in Truxton Zion Cemetery in Truxton, Missouri.
