Charles Norman Seng, age 96, of Overland, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born in Fairmont City, Illinois on September 6, 1925 to Charles and Nellie Seng (nee Cross).
Charles is survived by his daughters Denise (Richard) Palmer, Janis Hoyt, and Terry (Kurt) Arthur; grandchildren Christopher (Lori) Palmer, Jeffrey Palmer, Alex (Amber) Arthur, Joseph (Becky) Arthur, Justin Arthur, Lara (Jon) Longo, Alaina (Chesney) Japal, and Katrina (Zach) Stepp; great-grandchildren Abigail Palmer, Logan Palmer, AJ Arthur, Samuel Arthur, Jackson Arthur, Gabriel Longo, and Benjamin Arthur.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mayovah "Maye" Seng (nee DuMay); parents Charles W. and Nellie Seng; brother Richard Seng; and sister Fern Anderson.
Charles, or "Bus" as he was known to his family and friends, served his country with honor in the United States Navy during World War II. He then went on to graduate from McKendree University with a Masters degree. Bus began his career as a teacher, specializing in several different areas, including biology, physical education, and drivers' education. He also served as a longtime football and wrestling coach for the Maplewood Richmond Heights High School, and successfully coached state champion teams in both sports. Throughout his 30 + year career, Bus became Assistant Principal and retired as Principal.
Bus belonged to the American Legion, Thoman-Boothe Post, and was a parishioner of All Souls Catholic Church in Overland, Missouri. In his free time he loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and playing golf. He was a dearly beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, Masses or memorial contributions may be made in Bus' honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
