Christopher J Powers

Christopher J. Powers, age 59, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born in St. Louis on June 22, 1959, beloved son of Edward L. Powers and Eileen D. Powers.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Edward L. Powers, his mother, Eileen D. Powers (nee Ikemeyer), his oldest brother, Edward J. Powers, and his youngest brother, William F. Powers. He is survived by his daughter, Jenni (Powers) Cavender, and sons, Joseph (Kristin) Powers, and Christopher M. (Rosalie) Powers, and by eight grandchildren, Tyler, Ben, Emma, Jack, Leah, Ryan, Zach and Dom, and one great grandchild, Amber. He is also survived by his brothers, Timothy (Brenda) Powers, John Powers, and his sister, Patty (Jerry) Kuehl, and sister-in-law, Nina Powers. Also surviving Chris are nieces and nephews, Edward (Kathy) Powers, Michael Powers, Elizabeth Powers, Tim Powers, Kevin (Angie) Powers, Geoffrey Powers, Kristie (Kuehl) Ream, Matthew Kuehl, and Kati Powers. He also has many great nephews and nieces, cousins and an aunt.

Chris loved the outdoors and worked as a Park Keeper for the City of St. Louis for the past 20 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy. Chris was known for being a hard worker, moonlighting on evenings and weekends taking care of lawns and gardens for others. He never knew a stranger, striking up conversations with everyone he met. He was well respected by his co-workers in the City of St. Louis Parks Department.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2018 from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1355 Motherhead Rd., Cottleville, MO 63304. The visitation will be immediately followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1355 Motherhead Rd., Cottleville, MO 63304. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Salvation Army, St. Louis, MO. ARC, 3949 Forest Park Ave., St. Louis, MO 63108.
