C.J. Vogt

C.J. Vogt of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at the age of 84. C.J. was born on January 7, 1940 to the late Carl and Hermina Vogt. He was the youngest of six children, preceded in death by his siblings, Imogene (Bud) Vinke, Melvin (Velma) Vogt, Ralph (Theresa) Vogt, Elta Mae (Richard) Zaleuke, Ruth Ann (Richard) Smith.

He was married to his beloved wife Mary Jane Vogt (nee Siedentop) for 65 years. He was a devoted father to Ron (Kathy) Vogt and Jeanette Vogt; loving grandfather of Shawn (Kassy) Vogt, Carla (Ethan) Aurand, Nicki (Chance) Lyell; proud great-grandfather of Ainslee Aurand; beloved uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend.

C.J. worked at McDonnell Douglas as a General Foreman where he got to travel extensively. He obtained his pilot’s license, co-owned, and flew a Cessna aircraft. C.J. enjoyed fixing anything that was broken as well as making wren houses and wood working. There was no task he was not up to taking on and accomplishing. He started playing sports at an early age including football, baseball, and basketball. Later he cherished his time playing fast-pitch softball, golf, and church dart ball. He was a crew member of the Francis Howell chain gang and was recognized for his many years of service. C.J. was inducted into the Saint Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame in 2014 for his accomplishments in Dartball. He also treasured his time fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He took pride in maintaining his property and baling hay with his children and grandchildren. C.J. was an active member of both St. John’s UCC of St. Charles and Emmanuel UCC of Weldon Spring churches where he participated on many committees. His close-knitted family has always been his biggest sense of pride. 

C.J. will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. 

A visitation will be held at 9:00 until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 6210 Hwy 94 South, Weldon Spring, MO 63304. A service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. C.J. will be laid to rest at Emmanuel UCC cemetery, Weldon Spring, MO.

Memorials may be made in C.J’s name to Emmanuel United Church of Christ of Weldon Spring or the American Heart Association.
