Cleon R. Mitchell

Cleon Raphael Mitchell, age 79, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, in Saint Peters, Missouri. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica on December 15, 1942, to Clifford and Zerish Mitchell (nee Leslie). He was married to Gloria Mitchell (nee Johnson) on October 5th, 1963.

Cleon attended Knocklava Rural Secondary School where he pursued courses in agriculture and woodwork. He attended the College of Arts, Science and Technology (C.A.S.T.) and graduated with a degree in woodworking. He taught woodworking at Bryce Elementary School for 2 years. Cleon joined the Jamaica Defense Force from April 1964 to April 1970 and resigned as a Lance Corporal. He migrated to the United States in 1974 and became a citizen in August of 1985. Cleon worked in the retail and aviation industries until becoming an owner/operator of his truck driving company until retirement in 2003.

Cleon was an accomplished family man, and a lover of many things. He loved the island of Jamaica, his homeland, listening to great music, and watching classic TV shows and wrestling, but his greatest love and achievement was his family. Cleon and his wife Gloria sacrificed many things in their lives to ensure that their children, and future generations of the Mitchell family, would have a wonderful life and more opportunities than they had. You could always rely on Cleon for advice, old Jamaican sayings, and a good laugh. To all of us, Cleon was larger than life, and he will be sorely missed.

Cleon is survived by his Wife, Gloria B Mitchell of Saint Peters, MO; Son, Leighton (April) Mitchell; Son, Seymour (Marian) Mitchell; Daughter, Suzette Mitchell; Grandson, Travis Mitchell; Granddaughter, Kristen Mitchell; Grandson, Brandon Mitchell; Granddaughter, Camille (Salomon) Lopez; Granddaughter, Kendal Christian; Granddaughter, Amira Mitchell; Grandson, Kenneth Mitchell; Grandson, Keon Mitchell-Harris; Brother, Derrick Mitchell; Brother, Trevor Mitchell; Sister, Patricia Mitchell and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Clifford Mitchell; Mother, Zerish Mitchell; and Sister, Phyllis Mitchell.

Visitation will be Friday, June 10th, 2022 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. The Funeral Ceremony will be on Saturday, June 11th, 2022 at 10 am also at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions.
