Craig Igou

October 15, 1958 — November 2, 2024

Craig Igou, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on November 2, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, cherished memories. Born on October 15, 1958, in Saint Louis, Missouri, Craig’s journey through life was marked by dedication to his family and career, as well as a passion for storytelling and cooking.

For 31 years, Craig worked tirelessly as a diesel mechanic for Laclede Gas (Spire), where his commitment to quality and service made him a valued member of his team. His hands-on skills extended beyond his profession; he was affectionately known as “Mr. Fix It” among family and friends, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Craig’s true pride and joy came from his family. He was a loving and devoted husband to Marilyn Igou, a caring father to Samantha Olendorff, and a best friend to his only daughter. His spirit shone brightest in the presence of his two grandchildren, Hunter and Mackenzie, with whom he shared a playful and nurturing bond. Craig's calm and steady demeanor, combined with his sense of humor, brought joy and laughter to those around him. He was known for his ability to tell captivating stories, which often drew everyone in, laughing and sharing in the joy of the moment.

In his personal life, Craig was also an amazing cook, famously known for his unforgettable fried chicken that could bring the family together. He had a nurturing soul, deeply caring for animals and his loved ones alike. Craig’s selflessness was evident in all he did; whether it was ensuring a friend in need received assistance or taking the time to enjoy life's simple pleasures, he approached every situation with thoughtfulness and generosity.

Craig will forever be remembered by his loving wife, Marilyn Igou; his daughter, Samantha Olendorff; his grandchildren, Hunter and Mackenzie Olendorff; his step-son, Roderick Stone; two sisters, Emily (Bob) Bloor and Mary Anne Gebhardt; a brother, Randall (Twanna) Igou; along with a host of other cherished family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Jean Igou; father, Bert Samuel Igou; and brother-in-law, Phillip K. Gebhardt. As we remember Craig, let us celebrate the warmth he brought into our lives and the memories we will hold dearly in our hearts.
