Daniel R. Smallwood, Sr.

Dan R. Smallwood, Sr., age 84, of St. Peters, Missouri passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 4, 1937 to Thomas and Rose Smallwood (nee Zellinger).

Daniel is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Smallwood; children Donna (David) Haley-Day, Dan (Kimberly) Smallwood, Jr., and Debbie (Lee ) Anderson; grandchildren Jason Greene, Jared Haley, Blake Haley, Daniel (Megan) Smallwood III, Scott (Shannon) Smallwood, Samantha (Rick) Kaltenbach, Benjamin (Libby) Smallwood, Nichole Anderson, Leeanna Anderson, Dustin Anderson, and Alyssa Anderson. Also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Pat (Jean Eva) Smallwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Rose Smallwood; four sisters, Mary, Rosemary, Diane, and Eileen; and two brothers, Tom and Mike.


Dan enjoyed a lengthy career with Schnucks Markets, as a produce supervisor and produce buyer. Following his retirement, Dan became owner and operator of Smallwood Lawn Care. He loved spending time outdoors, maintaining his yard and home, and especially loved having his grandsons set his fence posts. In his free time, Dan loved to travel with his wife and family. He also enjoyed going to the Casino.
Dan was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
