David Anthony Cox

October 1, 1968 — March 2, 2025

David Anthony Cox, born on October 1, 1968, in New Orleans, Louisiana, left this world peacefully on March 2, 2025, in O'Fallon, Missouri, after a long illness. He was a beloved figure to many and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him.

David was a master of many trades, using his diverse skill set to navigate through life. He managed Subway restaurants and excelled in IT work, where he built computers with the same passion he brought to every aspect of his life. While he was a hard worker, David found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as spending time at the beach with his children—Christian, Zoe, Sydney, and Elijah. The time he shared with them, no matter the activity, was what truly made his heart full. He was most proud of his children; they were his absolute world.

Education was an important part of David's journey. He attended Riverdale High School in Jefferson, Louisiana, and continued his studies at Louisiana Northwestern State University. It was during these formative years that he began to develop the unique personality that would endear him to so many.

David was known for his one-of-a-kind spirit, characterized by a crazy sense of humor and a quick-witted approach to life. He had an unparalleled ability to make people feel welcomed, never knowing a stranger. His generosity knew no bounds; even when he had little, he would give whatever he could. David’s kindness extended beyond human connections—he was an avid animal lover, known for rescuing a little dog off the street and finding it a good home. He treated all animals with gentleness and compassion, reflecting his nurturing soul.

His siblings, Miriam (Kris) Simonsen, Tonya (Johnny) Johnson, Cindy Ajan, and brother Leland Roy Cox, Jr., as well as numerous nieces and nephews, remember him with warmth and adoration. They recall countless stories filled with laughter, kindness, and the love that David poured into all his relationships. He had a remarkable ability to forge lifelong friendships and continually made new connections wherever he went.

David’s faith played a significant role in his life. He found and embraced the teachings of Christ as an adult, becoming a true believer whose faith guided him in his actions and interactions. His love for the Lord was profound and he carried it in his heart, inspiring those around him.

As we remember David, we cherish the memories of his humor, his generosity, and the deep love he had for his children. His legacy lives on in the hearts of Kelli Cormier Cox, the mother of his children, and in the laughter and love shared by Christian, Zoe, Sydney, and Elijah. He leaves behind a family and community that will forever hold him dear, as well as memories that will continue to bring smiles and warmth to those who had the privilege to know him.

David is reunited in eternal peace with his father, Leland Roy Cox, Sr., his mother, Linda Ann Cox, and his nephew, Richard Volante III. While he is deeply missed, the light he shared with the world will continue to shine through the hearts of those he touched.
