David Huelskamp

David Alfred Huelskamp, age 82, of Lake St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital West in Lake St. Louis surrounded by loved ones.

David was born January 14, 1942 in Breese, IL to Joseph H. and Eleanor (nee Foppe) Huelskamp, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his siblings Herman (in infancy), Lawrence (in infancy), Jerome, Geraldine, J. Dennis, Gerald, Erwin and Sr. Julia, PHJC. 

He is survived by his children, Eric (Mollie), Rachael (Michiel), Ann (Calvin) and seven grandchildren: Henry, Ben, Julia, Isaiah, Cayla, Techiya, Sophia. David also met his first great grandchild, Kehlanii Rose, who was born July 13, 2024.

David is also survived by his siblings Rose, Eleanor, Lorine, Thomas and his cousin Joseph Benhoff, along with sister-in-law Maxine (Erwin) Huelskamp.

David attended the Preparatory Seminary of the Sacred Heart Fathers in Donaldson, IN and the Sacred Heart Novitiate in Olney, IL. He worked on the Bach family farm outside of Carlyle, IL in 1962, prior to serving in the United States Navy from 1963-1967. After completing his service, David worked for General Motors until his retirement after 35 years with the company. He was a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW).

David was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and driving in the countryside. In the later years of his life, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and finding treasures at his favorite second hand stores.
