Debra Curtis

February 8, 1953 — January 26, 2025

Debra Lynn Curtis, a vibrant soul and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, in Wildwood, Missouri. Born on February 8, 1953, in St. Louis City, Missouri, Debra was known for her adventurous spirit, warmth, and heartfelt presence that would light up any room.

For 30 dedicated years, Debra worked for West County Ophthalmology, where she brought joy and compassion to her colleagues and the countless patients she served. Her caring nature extended beyond her professional life, as she always put her family first, creating a loving home filled with cherished memories.

Debra had a passion for life that was evident in everything she did. Each year, she would attend the Mizzou homecoming game with her loving husband, Richard Curtis, coupled with delightful trips to Biloxi, Mississippi, where the two would bask in the sun on the beach. Her love for Mizzou football was matched only by her enthusiasm for reading books and listening to music. She could often be found enjoying summer days by the pool, surrounded by laughter and love.

Debra's greatest pride came from her family. She leaves behind her loving husband, Richard, her children Nathan (Jamie) Kraus, Aaron Kraus, Kelly (Joshua) Stockstill, Matthew (Mary Jo) Curtis, and Patrick (Edna Zhou) Curtis. She was also a proud grandmother to her beloved grandchildren: Trevor Pyatt, Dawson Kraus, Ethan Kraus, Adam Christensen-Kraus, Madelyn Curtis, Kilian Curtis, Shae Curtis, Noah Stockstill, and Riley Stockstill. These precious moments spent together will forever remain etched in their hearts.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Pete Curtis, and her cherished siblings, Barry Matthes, Paula Sharpe, Christien Voigt, and Diane Luepker, who will always remember her loving spirit and incredible zest for life.

Debra was predeceased by her beloved parents, Paul Matthes and Wanda Halley, as well as her parents-in-law, Richard M. "Dick" Curtis and June Curtis. Their memories will forever be cherished, as her love was deeply rooted in her family history.

The family will be holding a Memorial Gathering on February 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Debra Lynn Curtis will be remembered as a loving partner, a dedicated mother, a doting grandmother, and a vibrant spirit whose legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her caring nature and adventurous spirit that made every moment spent with her a treasured memory.
