Dee Scrivner of St. Charles, MO, passed away on March 29, 2023, at the age of 82, after the onset of Parkinson's and Dementia.
Dee was born on May 11, 1940, to Orval & Virginia Scrivner in Reedley, CA. He graduated from Ava High School, then received his Associates degree from The School of the Ozarks. While there, he met the love of his life, Thelma Rodgers. Later, Dee went on to attend Drury College for a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree from Northeast Missouri State University where he became a member of Phi Delta Kappa.
Dee retired after 38 years in education, touching the lives of many students. Starting in a one-room rural schoolhouse in Laclede Co., MO, Orchard Farm (12 yrs.), Winfield Elementary (4 yrs.), and Ft. Zumwalt North (18 yrs.). In later years, he always enjoyed running into former students and hearing of their accomplishments.
Dee loved playing music, especially with family and friends. He could never pass up a plate of sweets, and above all he LOVED his family and cars!
Dee was the beloved husband for 62 years of Thelma (nee Rodgers) Scrivner; proud father of Jeanine Wittman, Connie (Erik) Schaffer, Norval (Julia) Scrivner, and Carla (Mark) Eaton; loving and adored grandfather of Jessica Scrivner (Corey Dvorak), Dr. Robert (Meg Yingling) Scrivner, Katelyn Schaffer, Nicholas Scrivner, and Samantha Eaton; brother of Jerry (Carolyn) Scrivner and Delbert (Kay) Scrivner; brother-in-law to Jacque Scrivner; and uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval & Virginia Scrivner; brothers, Leroy Scrivner, Norval Scrivner, and Larry Scrivner; son-in-law, Larry Wittman; granddaughter, Adrienne Schaffer; and nephews Stacy Nokes and Larry Wayne Scrivner, Jr.
A private graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Monday April 10, 2023, Bethel Cemetery in Brownbranch, MO.
