Dennis J. Dowdall

Dennis J. Dowdall, born on July 16, 1950, passed away on January 21, 2025. A cherished husband, father, father in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, cousin and uncle. Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to his family and friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jacqueline Dowdall. Together they fostered a loving and generous home enriched by their oldest daughter Suzanne (Victor Schone) Miller and her children Christian Miller, Katelyn Miller and Alexis Schone, and their youngest daughter Lauren (Melissa Wagner) Wagner and their children Oliver Wagner, Felix Wagner and Nora Wagner each of them exemplifying the good christian values he instilled in them. Dennis was immensely proud of his grandchildren. His role as a grandfather brought him unmatched joy further illuminated by the presence of his great-grandchildren, Jameson Bergesch and Azariah Miller.

Dennis was also a beloved brother, remembered fondly by his brothers, Timothy Dowdall and David Dowdall. He maintained close relationships with his sisters-in-law, Dolores (John) Murphy, Mary (Jim) Simpson, and Gail Bax. He enjoyed a wide circle of family and many many friends, which included many nieces, nephews, and cousins who held him in high esteem.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Charles Dowdall, and his mother, Dorothy Marie Dowdall, whose teachings and guidance shaped his character. Dennis also mourned the passing of his brother-in-law, Gerard Bax and the passing of his grandson Colton Schone.

Visitation services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri on January 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on January 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at the Newcomer Funeral Home. Subsequently, a graveside service will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri, at 1:00 PM.

Dennis J. Dowdall will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to Jesus and his bible, to his equally devoted wife Jackie and their beautiful marriage and to his family and friends, he will be remembered for his many mission trips to Nicaragua to guide those in need, his dedication to the United States Navy and work for the postal service providing for his family, his kindness, and the warmth and generous heart that he shared with all who knew him. His amazing efforts to transform into the perfect Santa at Christmas time and his collection of unique and nostalgic cars along with lawn mowers, motorcycles and much more, not to mention the many many dad jokes that will never ever be forgotten. His memory and walk through life with Jesus will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved.

Dennis was one of the founders of the Harvest Initiative which focused on Community Development, evangelism education and environment in Nicaragua. He supported this fully and would love if anyone would like to donate to this cause. He spent a great deal of time helping those in need in Nicaragua and it was close to his heart.
