Dennis A. Oberlohr
June 7, 1952 — September 2, 2020
On Wednesday, September 2nd 2020, Dennis Oberlohr, loving father of six children, passed away at age 68.
Dennis was born on June 7th 1952 in St. Louis, MO to August and Stella Oberlohr. A proud union member, he started at Ameren UE when he was 19 and worked his way up to Transmission Dispatcher over a 46 year career at Ameren UE. He was fondly remembered by his coworkers as someone who exhibited an outstanding work ethic and a cool head.
He found joy in the simple things in life, like finding the best weekly deals at the grocery store or making ice to keep the Bud Light cold during bottlecaps and BBQs. Dennis was a champion Words with Friends player, a grill master and one hell of a Blitz competitor. He loved watching and betting on sports and spending Friday nights at Ameristar. He will be remembered for his stubbornness, his late night talks, and his love for his grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his children, Sarah Oberlohr, Heather Oberlohr, Jason Oberlohr, Gregory Oberlohr, Hannah (Joshua) Zilch and Adam Oberlohr; his grandchildren, Charlotte Phifer, Jared Pullam, Christopher Oberlohr, Justice Oberlohr, Emma Pullam, and Taegan Oberlohr; his sblings, Carol Slinkard, Butch (Phyllis) Oberlohr, Stanley (Bonnie) Oberlohr, and Thomas Oberlohr. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, and will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, August Oberlohr; his mother, Stella Oberlohr; his sister, Rosemary Whitworth; and his brother-in-law, Gene Slinkard.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with a funeral service at 1: 00 pm, both on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376 (636-875-1200). Interment will be private.
