Dennis Charles Welch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 1, 2025, in Chesterfield, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 30, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, Dennis led a life rich with laughter, loyalty, and love.
A proud veteran, he served honorably in the United States Army, where his spirit of camaraderie and service laid the foundation for the strong relationships he cherished throughout his life. Known for his sarcastic humor and fun-loving nature, Dennis brought joy to those around him. His generous heart and unwavering loyalty made him a pillar in his family and a steadfast friend to many.
Dennis was a man of passions, especially when it came to sports. He had an enduring love for baseball, with the Chicago White Sox holding a special place in his heart. Amongst the many players he admired, Stan Musial stood out as a personal favorite. Football was equally dear to him; he supported the Arizona team, formerly the Chicago Cardinals, and cherished memories of playing high school football against the legendary Dick Butkus. A highlight of his life included attending spring training with the Houston Astros, a testament to his enduring love for the game.
His family was his pride and joy. Dennis is survived by his beloved sons, Allen (Karri) Welch and Steven (Jennifer) Welch, who carry forward his legacy with grace and strength. His grandchildren, Christopher (Laura) Welch, Matthew (fiance, Alexia) Welch, and Brendan Welch, were a source of immense pride and joy, and they will always remember his warm laughter and supportive spirit.
While he faced incredible joy in his life, there were also moments of deep sorrow, particularly with the passing of his loving wife, Arlene Welch, and his cherished parents, Norman and Margaret Welch. These losses shaped his resilience and enriched his capacity for love, which he so freely shared with his family.
As we remember Dennis, we reflect on his proudest accomplishments—his family, especially his children, and the beautiful 55 years he spent marrying the love of his life, Arlene. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the lessons of love, loyalty, and laughter he imparted.
Dennis Charles Welch will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew him.
