Diane Jenise Devonshire, age 62, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. She was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on June 2, 1958 to Louis and Gracie Fondren (nee Harris).
Diane grew up in Breckenridge Hills, Missouri with her two brothers. She attended Ritenour Senior High School where she was a member of the school's first Black Student Union. While in high school, she started working at Community Federal (Boatmen's Bank) at the age of seventeen where she eventually met her husband Earl. Earl and Diane were married 30 years. Diane then attended college at Saint Louis University for her bachelors degree and later attended Webster University for her masters degree. She began her career in marketing as the vice president of Marketing Works Incorporated. She later went on to become the global marketing director at DuPont (Solae) and retired after 15 years. Diane was an active church member at the Christian Life Center in Florissant, Missouri where she served on the usher board and volunteered on other auxiliaries. She also volunteered at a local food pantry, a local hospice center, and helped the elderly with their taxes. Diane enjoyed traveling, cooking, hosting, and entertaining at home. All that knew her knew her as a giver, dog lover, caregiver, foodie, and a woman of God. All her family and friends looked to her for advice, and they will always remember her sense of humor and spunk.
Diane is survived by her husband, Earl Devonshire; her children, Jennifer Devonshire, Joel (Linda) Devonshire, Jacqueline (Wayman) Hightower, and Joyce Devonshire; her grandchildren, Sheritta Green, Kiara Quinn, and Katrina Jones; 8 great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Charles Smotherson and Mark Smotherson. She will be dearly missed by a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Gracie Fondren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376 (636-875-1200). Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125.
