Donald Eugene Beisel

September 26, 1939 — October 5, 2024

Donald Eugene Beisel, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, departed this life on October 5, 2024, in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born on September 26, 1939, in Canistota, South Dakota, and his legacy is woven deeply into the fabric of his family and community.

For several decades, Donald shaped the world around him as an Urban Environmental Planner. His career took him across the globe, from breathtaking landscapes of Colorado to the vibrant city of Dubai. He served as the director of the planning department in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and the mountains of Colorado held a special place in his heart, providing him both inspiration and solace.

Donald was not only a dedicated professional but also a devoted family man. He took immense pride in being a simple man, rooted in his upbringing on a farm in South Dakota. These experiences shaped his character, and he loved sharing stories from his past, reminding us of the values of hard work and humility. His greatest accomplishments were found within the walls of his family home; he adored being a husband to Judi Beisel and a father to his children, Ryan (Stephanie) Beisel and Sharman Griffith. His love for them was unwavering, and they knew that they were his greatest joy.

Donald’s interests spanned far and wide; he found comfort and fulfillment in working outdoors, turning his yard into a personal oasis through landscaping. His passion for reading and travel, especially historical books and trips to visit historical landmarks, enriched his life and those around him, as he often shared intriguing tales from the past. A love of baseball grounded him, becoming yet another thread in the tapestry of a life well-lived.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Maynard and Josephine Beisel, and a cherished son-in-law, Wade Griffith. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Judi; son Ryan (Stephanie); daughter Sharman; grandchildren Caitlin and Connor; great-granddaughter Amelia; brother Wayne (Cindy) Beisel; sister Diane Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Donald passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving son, Ryan, his beloved wife, Judi, and with Nash, his beloved companion, nestled beside him. The warmth of his family's presence provided comfort in his final moments, a testament to the strong family bonds he fostered throughout his life.
