Donald L. Cummings, age 77, of Saint Peters, Missouri, passed away in his home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 18, 1947, to Elmer and Lorraine Cummings (nee Gastrock) and grew up in Cody, Wyoming.
Don was a man who knew no strangers and truly enjoyed helping others, with both his time and donating to causes that were important to him. He was adventurous and spent as much time as he could traveling with his wife. After working 38 years for Ozark Airlines, TWA and American Airlines, he retired. Don was a lifelong Cardinals fan and took pride in volunteering with Cardinals Care, a St. Louis Cardinals Community outreach program dedicated to helping kids. Volunteering at the Rec-Plex with various events, helping patients at the Siteman Cancer Center after overcoming lung cancer himself, donating to causes such as ASPCA & St. Jude's are testimonies of his character. In Don's own words: "I'm old fashioned. I'm the type of person who will help you if I can, and I don't need to get paid for it."
Don is survived by his wife, Lorna Cummings; his daughter, Barbara L. (John) Haley; his stepsons, Mark T. (Janet) Wallace, Doug K. Wallace, and Chris B. (Christine) Yates; his grandchildren, Chris (Kayla) Haley, Nick (Kelsey) Haley, Madelyn and Vivian Yates, Mia Wallace and Gabbi Freeman; his great-grandchildren, Harper and Nolan Haley, Lyla and Remi Haley. He will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lorraine Cummings.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm all on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Saint Peters Chapel, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376.
In lieu of flowers, please consider continuing Don's tradition and commitment to donating to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
