Donald D. Roberts, age 94, of Chesterfield, Missouri passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born in Forest City, Arkansas on June 10, 1927 to Earl and Eva Roberts (nee Trout).
Donald was a giant of a man, both in stature and spirit. He passed that love of life onto everyone he met. From an early age he understood family, duty and hard work. Donald graduated from Central High School in Cape Girardeau, MO with the class of 1945. After graduating, he enlisted into the United States Air Army Corps. Donald proudly served in WWII and the Korean War. He married Betty in 1952 and started his family. After Betty passed, he married Judy and the family continued to grow.
Donald's children and grandchildren talk proudly and fondly of all the adventures and stories he made possible in their worlds. From traveling the country to cheering on the Cardinals to traditions at the Old Spaghetti Factory, Donald knew what was important in this life and his legacy will live on forever.
He was a master of ceremonies, and truly understood the meaning of family and tradition. This could never be more evident than watching him host for family holidays. The adventures Donald experienced and shared could fill many lifetimes, but he managed to fit them into his one. This is a lesson we can all learn from as we navigate this crazy world. Live life to the fullest everyday and for those you love.
Donald is survived by his children, Donna Roberts, Diane (Ronald) Groezinger , Denis Roberts, Barbara Vanhorn, John Kluempers (Darlene Robinson) , and Mark (Dottie) Kluempers; his daughter-in-law, Sharon Roberts; his grandchildren, Michael (Valerie) Freeman, Jessica (Tony) Blackburn, Amber Roberts, Lauren (Donald) Shaver, Matt Cook, Andy (Karin) Vanhorn, Kylie (Colin) Kneucker, Chandler Smith, Julie (John) Gibbs, Joe Cazzell, and Kelly (RJ) Kluempers; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He will be dearly missed by many other members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Roberts; his second wife, Judith Roberts; his son, David Roberts; his daughter-In-Law, Paula Smith-Roberts; his grandson, Timothy Roberts; his brother, Earl (Bea) Roberts; and his parents, Earl and Eva Roberts.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 15750 Baxter Rd, Chesterfield, MO 63017. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at 12:30 pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
