Donald Wayne Wynns, age 76, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in Saint Peters, Missouri. He was born in Hayward, California on March 17, 1945 to Joe and Wilmetta Wynns (nee Jemes). Donald grew up in Missouri and went to Ritenour High School, where he was state wrestling champion two years in a row. After graduation, he worked for McDonnell Aircraft for a short period of time before enlisting in the Navy, where he served honorably from 1964 to 1968.
He married Linda Wynns (nee Steyer) in 1969, and remained married for 52 wonderful years. He became an iron worker in 1970 and worked out of Local 396 for 30 years. Donald enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. He was a jack of all trades, could build anything, and passed those skills on to his son who was his right-hand man. Donald loved spending time with his kids and was always cheering them on. He could be found on the sidelines of his son's soccer games and he coached his daughter's softball team to a state championship win. Most of all, he loved being a Pa Pa, and taught all three of his granddaughters how to swim and fish.
Donald is survived by his wife, Linda C. Wynns; daughter, Jennifer J. Wynns; son, Clayton W. Wynns; granddaughters, Kaitlyn R. (Kendra) Sontag, Cassandra L. (Nathan Kirby) Eads, and Delaney G. Wynns; brother, Robert J. Wynns; sister, Betty C. Kohnen; and faithful canine companion, Bear; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe C. Wynns; mother, Wilmetta B. Wynns; and sister, Joy D. Dodge.
