Doreen Catherine Wood, affectionately known as Nana, departed this life on March 13, 2025, in Weldon Spring, Missouri, at the age of 91. Born on January 9, 1934, in Liverpool, England, Doreen carried the spirit of her birthplace throughout her life, enriched by a deep faith and unwavering love for the Lord.
Nana was a woman of profound devotion—both to her faith and her family, which remained her proudest accomplishment. Known for her incredible gifts of baking, she delighted many with her famous Christmas cookies and candies, sweetening the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth and generosity extended beyond her culinary talents, as she was a talented seamstress, knitter, and enjoyed her arts and crafts, often crafting handmade gifts that brought joy to others.
Doreen found fulfillment in her church community, where she spent countless hours nurturing her spirituality and supporting those around her. She loved entertaining and always took joy in cooking for family gatherings, cherishing the time spent with her beloved children, Valerie (Donald) Anderson, Brian (Suzette) Wood, and Ruth Fitch, along with her grandchildren TJ (Kara), Tabitha (Mike), Shannon (Matt), Jeffrey, Christopher (Laura), Heather (Jeremy), Holly (Tom), BJ, and Michael (Sarah). Her bond with her great-grandchildren—Tucker, Bodey, James, Brayden, Sophia, Ryder, Griffin, Bryson, Dimitri, Logan, and Kianna—was especially treasured, as she illuminated their lives in countless ways.
Doreen’s life was undeniably shaped by her enduring love for her late husband, George William Wood, whose memory she carried in her heart. She was also predeceased by her parents, Charles and Catherine Cooper, and her cherished grandson, Aaron Wood. Through the pain of loss, Doreen remained a beacon of love and strength for her family.
In the arms of the Lord, Nana leaves behind a legacy woven with faith, love, and the joy of togetherness. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
