Doris Kolb

April 17, 1941 — April 21, 2022

Doris Marie Kolb, age 81, of O'Fallon, Missouri went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2022, in St. Charles, Missouri. She was born in Halstead, Kansas on April 17, 1941, to Jacob and Esther Krauss.

Raised on a farm in Harvey County, Kansas, Doris attended a one room schoolhouse for her first four years of school. She enjoyed milking cows, riding horses, and shooting jack rabbits in the field with her brothers. After graduating from Bentley High School (class of 1959), she attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO where she met her husband Bill Kolb. They were married in July 1963. Together, they served at three different churches in Illinois before arriving at West Division Street Baptist Church in Springfield, MO in May 1975. Doris faithfully ministered alongside Bill as he pastored there for nearly 32 years. She loved, mentored, befriended, and served so many in her role as a beloved pastor's wife.

Doris began working for Sam's Club in the early 90's and didn't retire until 2020. She was a tireless worker, diligent employee, and compassionate friend. In early 2008, she and Bill moved to O'Fallon, MO to live closer to their grandchildren. For the remaining 14 years of her life, Doris was a member at Grace Baptist Church where she was a sister, mother, and grandmother to so many. She enjoyed singing in the choir alongside her grandchildren, serving in Grace Kids, spoiling the children of the church with candy and hugs, and preparing meals for large groups of people. She loved gardening, rehabilitating orphaned flowers, cooking for her family, playing Settlers of Catan, birdwatching, giving free haircuts, and scouring stores for bargains. But above all, Doris was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She loved to read his Word, intercede for others in prayer, and gather with his saints.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Esther Krauss and three siblings – Maxine Shirk, William Krauss, and Kenneth Krauss.

Doris is survived by her husband William Kolb; four children – Kathryn McConnell (Tom), Karen Kolb, Kevin Kolb (Heidi), and Kurtis Kolb (Leah); thirteen grandchildren – Joshua, Josiah, Jonathan, Joy and Julia McConnell; Emma Phillips (Benjamin), Ellie, Evie, and Ezekiel Kolb; Jacob, Joseph, Norah and Judson Kolb; four siblings – Virginia Miller, Faye Rennolet (Frank), Karl Krauss (Dorothy), Carolyn Krauss and sister-in-law Jessie Krauss.

Visitation will be Friday, April 29, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The funeral will immediately follow from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and can be streamed at http://www.gracebaptistchurch.info/stream.
