Dorothy Louise Martin, age 102, of Cottleville, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in O’Fallon, Missouri. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 4, 1921, to Otto and Antonio Rubenack (nee Hensler).
Dorothy grew up in St. Louis. She married her husband, Edward, at 18. Together, they had two children. Dorothy worked at Hussmann Refrigeration in St. Louis while Edward was away at war. A dedicated mother, she would walk her children to her grandmother’s house in all kinds of weather, both cold and hot, and then walk to work.
Dorothy loved swimming, reading, and was a huge Hallmark Movies fan. She cherished her family, especially her daughter and grandchildren. Dorothy’s presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Firle of Saint Charles, MO; seven grandchildren, David (Anna) Firle, Ronald Firle, Laurie (John) Kaufman, Kathy (Bob) Gorman, Joseph M. (Michelle) Firle, Anthony (Kathy) Martin, and Michael (Angie) Martin; fifteen great-grandchildren, Valerie, Jennifer, Ashley, Christopher, Ryan, Danielle, Kevin, Shawn, Lyndsey, Kaleb, Art, Ellie, Emma, Darren, and Katie; ten great-great-grandchildren, Hunter, Finn, Keelan, Haven, Austin, Kinsley, Jase, Brody, Owen, and Malee; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Martin; father, Otto Rubenack; mother, Antonio Rubenack; son, Art Martin; daughter-in-law, Joyce Martin; son-in-law, Joseph A. Firle; and grandchild, Danny Martin.
A visitation will be held on July 8, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. A service will take place on July 9, 2024, at 11:00 am at the St. Peters Chapel. Following the service, Dorothy will be laid to rest at Valhalla Cemetery, 7600 St. Charles Rock Rd, St. Louis, MO 63133, at 1:00 pm.
