Edward Moore, age 85, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024. He was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on April 3, 1938, the only child of Ed and Edna. Edward was baptized in June 1938 at St. Peters Lutheran Church and confirmed in June 1952 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. He was raised in St. Louis with his only cousin, Carole, with all the fun and fighting that made her more like a sister.
He met Joyce Russell on a blind date and on June 20, 1964, they were married at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before Joyce's death on November 21, 2022.
After graduating from Roosevelt High School, Ed attended Southeast Missouri State, earning a business degree. He worked for the St. Louis Police Department in human resources and served in the Air Force Reserves. Ed's career took the family to Jefferson City in 1980 where he worked for the state. They became active members of Trinity Lutheran Church, where they remained until family brought them to the St. Peters area and Zion Lutheran Church in 2007.
Ed was passionate about fitness, particularly weightlifting. After work, he would head to the basement to lift while running the laundry. In fact, he became passionate about the laundry! He served on the usher team and faithfully took his family to church every Sunday. He demonstrated a firm commitment to being a loyal husband and father, and his strong faith remains a great example to them.
Ed is survived by his son, Tim (Carolyn) Moore of Bloomington, IL; two daughters, Vickie (Gary) Adams and Jill (Doug) Walker of Saint Peters, MO; seven granddaughters, Jaime (Connor) Georgopulos, Jane (fiancé Matt) Moore, Kate Adams, Megan Moore, Maddie Moore, Avery Walker, Addie Walker; sister-in-law, Judy Becker; and beloved cousin Carole Stotler.
The family thanks the staff at Delmar Gardens, O'Fallon for their expert care and loving kindness. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Zion Lutheran Church, 3866 Old Hwy 94 South, St. Charles, MO 63304.
