Elizabeth Kendrick Rathmell

Elizabeth Kendrick Rathmell, age 75, of Chesterfield, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 8, 1949 to Robert and Janet Newton (nee Murray).

Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Roger Rathmell; loving daughter, Carrie E. (Eric) Meeker; treasured sisters and brother, Barbara (Edward) Reed, Anne (Milton) Shaley, Margaret (Michael) Moore and Robert G. (the late Linda) Newton Jr.; dear mother-in-law, Pearl Rathmell. Also survived by loving nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert G. Newton, Sr.; mother, Janet R. Newton; and father-in-law, Clarence H. Rathmell, Jr.

Elizabeth graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She was honored to have been able to work in many of the Nursery Schools in the Presbyterian Churches near where she lived. She also taught kindergarten in the Harrisburg (PA) City School District. Prior to her retirement, she had taught at Bonhomme Preschool and KDO for 25 years. Teaching was truly one of the great joys of her life and she considered every child that she was able to teach as one of her “kids” for life.
