Elmer Eugene "Gene" Enloe, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, in Chesterfield, Missouri, with loving family by his side. Born on August 13, 1936, in Cuba, Missouri, Gene lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and service to those around him.
After graduating from Ranken Technical School, where he also had the privilege of teaching Shop class, Gene embarked on a distinguished career as a Machinist with Nooter Corporation. He dedicated over 38 years to this role, approaching each day with the same dedication and enthusiasm that defined his character. Throughout his career, he became known for his exceptional problem-solving skills, using his ingenuity to fix anything that came his way long before the advent of modern technology.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gene was a pillar of strength in his community and a cherished member of New Covenant Church. He was deeply involved in church activities, selflessly cutting the grass and taking care of various needs around the facility. His charitable spirit and willingness to lend a hand were felt by many who had the privilege of knowing him. Gene’s woodworking skills were well-known, and he often shared that passion with those around him, creating pieces with love and an artist's touch.
Gene served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves, instilling in his family values of commitment and duty. He was particularly proud of his two sons, Eric and David, and delighted in the bond he shared with each of his grandchildren—Alex, Eric Jr., Adam, Olivia, and Samuel. Their laughter and accomplishments were beacons of joy throughout his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Vivian Enloe, who was his partner in all things. Together, they opened their home for small activities within their church, creating a welcoming space filled with love, laughter, and camaraderie. Gene was a kind man whose generosity of spirit was evident to all who crossed his path.
Gene leaves behind his two sons: Eric (the late Angela) Enloe and David (Gena) Enloe, as well as his cherished grandchildren. He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Joyce (Jim) Lee, and loving nieces and nephews.
His legacy will forever be carried on by those he loved and served, alongside the memories of his late parents, Walter Herbert Enloe and Louisa Mae Enloe, his brother Alan (Betty) Enloe, and sister Dorothy (Bill) Benthal.
As we mourn the loss of this remarkable man, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived, filled with love, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. Gene’s gentle spirit and caring heart will remain in our hearts, a lasting reminder of the impact one person can have on the lives of many.
