Erik Charles deGrandcourt, a devoted husband, loving father, and esteemed veteran, passed away on February 3, 2025, in St. Charles, Missouri, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived and the love of his family. Born on August 4, 1960, in Tampa, Florida, Erik was a beacon of kindness and dedication, consistently giving of himself to those around him.

Erik proudly served his country for 20 years as a Nuclear Biological Chemical Officer in the United States Army, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6/SSG) while demonstrating unwavering commitment to duty during both peacetime and war, including service in the Gulf War. His impressive array of decorations and medals include His decorations and medals were his Retirement Lapel, Meritorious Service Medal, 4 Army Commendation Medals, 2 Army Achievement Medals, 7 Army Good Conduct Medals, Army of Occupation Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Humanitarian Service Medal, Non-Commission Office Profesional, 3 Army Service Ribbons, 3 Oversea Ribbons, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Riffle Bar, Parachutist Badge, and an Air Assault Badge.  Throughout his military career, Erik exemplified leadership and integrity, earning respect from peers and superiors alike.

Outside of his military service, Erik was a man of many talents and interests. He was deeply engaged with the advancements in computer software and chemical analysis, showcasing his passion for technology and betterment in every aspect of life. However, his greatest achievements were not just marked by career milestones, but rather by the love he poured into his family, especially his wonderful wife, Cecelia, to whom he dedicated 35 beautiful years of marriage. Erik was a loving and devoted husband, always cherishing Cecelia as his everything. His legacy will live on through his three children: son, David N. (Vanessa) Oagles II, and daughters Rachel Marie (Andrew) Woyansky and Amanda Kathleen deGrandcourt. He took immense pride in being the grandfather to six grandchildren: Damon James Oagles, Ethan Woyansky, Cole Woyansky, Greyson Woyansky, Paisley Hopkins, and Elijah Hopkins, all of whom brought him extraordinary joy.

Erik is also survived by his two brothers, Leo and Lawrence Apsey; sister, Mary Beth Stinett; sisters-in-law, Rose (Fredrick) Roberts and Betyann (Beth) Perry; as well as his beloved nieces: Serena, Autumn, and Tammy, and nephew, Freddy; great-nephew, Drake. He held a deep appreciation for lifelong family friend, Petra, and treasured friendships with Greg, Kaitlin, Jason, Gerry, Myrna, Sharon, and Lisa, who felt the warmth of Erik's friendship over the years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Erik Edward deGrandcourt; mother, Helen deGrandcourt; two brothers, Michael and Martin Apsey; and brother-in-law, Frederick Perry. Erik's memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him, as they remember him for his unwavering faith in God, his selfless spirit, and the love that radiated from his very being.

Friends and loved ones are invited to honor Erik's life during the visitation on February 13, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri.

Erik Charles deGrandcourt will be missed dearly, but his legacy of love, giving, and steadfast devotion will continue through the lives he touched.
