Evangeline Weiss

October 26, 1919 — July 20, 2024

Evangeline Weiss, age 104, of Maryland Heights, Missouri went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 20, 2024. She was born in Absher, Montana on October 26, 1919 to George and Veronica Kruzick (nee Yurick).

Evangeline Weiss was the youngest of three children.

Because her Dad died when she was 2 months old, she was taken in by cattle ranchers, Mr. and Mrs. Chandler, to help out Veronica’s (Evangeline’s Mom’s) family. Evangeline lived with them till she was 8 years old.

She then joined her Mom and siblings in Roundup, Montana and lived there till she came to St. Louis at the age of 18. When she came to St. Louis, she only intended to come for a visit to meet her Aunt Emily, however she ended up staying. Her Aunt invited her to stay with her while she attended Sanford Brown Business College and eventually she found employment at International Shoe and later on at Lennox as a secretary.

At the age of 19, she met Robert Weiss who was working as a Meat Cutter at Kroger. They soon were dating and then married. They had seven children and were married for 35 years when Robert passed.

All throughout life, she enjoyed reading, gardening and baking, and was famous for her homemade cinnamon rolls.

Family vacations were spent at Bull Shoals Lake where she enjoyed spending time on the lake and simply enjoying the quiet country life.

She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. Holidays were extra special to her as that was the perfect time for extended family.

Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day that the LORD has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”  She had this Psalm posted in her kitchen. She always embraced life each day and encouraged us to do the same.

Her children wish to acknowledge the love and pride they had in their Mom. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Evangeline is survived by her sons, Gene (Ronda) Weiss, and Ronald (Deborah) Weiss; her daughters, Patricia (Jim) Bauer, and Cathy (Nick) Trupiano; her son-in-law, John Stone; her grandchildren, Warren Weiss, Tim (Jennifer) Stone, Terry (Shannon) Stone, Rob (Jenny) Weiss, Ryan (Amanda McCleary) Weiss, Andrea (Cory) Gill, Melissa (John) Chisenhall, Daniel (Kim) Weiss, and Jessica (Chase) Bates; 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Weiss; her father, George Kruzick, Sr.; her mother, Veronica Kruzick; her sons, Melvyn (Carol) Weiss, and Wayne Weiss; her daughter, Dianne Stone; her grandson, Wally Weiss; her brother, George Kruzick, Jr.; and her sister, Amelia (Edward) Sos.
